EN 16051-2:2012 is the CEN European standard that defines safety requirements, durability, performance, compatibility and test methods for non‑electrical air pumps (inflators) used with inflatable consumer products. It covers hand‑operated (Type H) and foot‑operated (Type F) pumps, interface geometry between pump adapters and valves, marking and labelling requirements, and test procedures to verify safe and reliable inflation. The standard does not apply to electrical inflators or to pump assemblies sold as a complete set with tubes and adapters.

- Displaced volume measured by water method; final value is mean of 10 cycles; double‑stroke pumps evaluated per active stroke.
- Marking and labelling
- Type plate must show manufacturer/distributor, nominal displaced volume (L/stroke or cycle) and nominal pressure (bar).
- Adapters and interface geometry
- Adapter dimensions and compatibility reference EN 16051‑1:2012; alternative adapter designs are acceptable if they meet functional compatibility.
