Navedene so uporabe in razločevalne lastnosti. Materiali, skladni s to specifikacijo, ustrezajo vzpostavljenim ravnem delovanja.

Overview

SIST EN 60893-3-7:2004 specifies the requirements for industrial rigid laminated sheets used for electrical purposes, particularly those based on polyimide resins with various reinforcements. Managed by the Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST), this standard provides clear directives for manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users regarding the quality and performance attributes essential for rigid polyimide laminated sheets in electrical insulation applications. The document is part of the broader EN 60893 series, which addresses different thermosetting resin types for electrical insulating materials.

Key Topics

  • Polyimide-based Laminates: Focus on laminates reinforced with woven glass cloth, denoted as PI GC 301, known for their excellent thermal stability and electrical insulation performance.
  • Material Designation: The standard outlines a designation system based on resin type, reinforcement, and dimensions, facilitating accurate specification and procurement.
  • Dimensional Requirements: Detailed tolerances for thickness, flatness, and width are provided to ensure uniformity and reliability in application.
  • Performance Criteria: Laminated sheets are assessed for flexural strength, impact resistance, electric strength, insulation resistance, flammability, and water absorption, ensuring suitability for demanding electrical environments.
  • Testing Methods: References are made to standardized test procedures, notably those defined in EN 60893-2, for verifying compliance with property requirements.

Applications

Rigid laminated sheets based on polyimide resins are utilized across a spectrum of electrical engineering and industrial sectors where high performance under thermal and electrical stress is required. Primary applications include:

  • Electrical Insulation: Used as insulating barriers and structural components within electrical equipment, such as transformers, motors, and switchgear, where reliable operation at elevated temperatures is critical.
  • Mechanical Supports: Providing robust support in components that must maintain their mechanical and electrical properties over time, particularly in high-temperature conditions.
  • High-Temperature Environments: Polyimide-based sheets are preferred for environments where both thermal endurance and electrical insulation are necessary, such as aerospace, railway, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Custom Fabrication: The diverse thickness and size options allow use in custom electrical insulation assemblies and prototypes.

Related Standards

To ensure comprehensive conformity and application of best practices in the use of insulating materials, the following standards should be consulted together with SIST EN 60893-3-7:

  • EN 60893-1: Definitions, designations, and general requirements for rigid laminated sheets based on thermosetting resins.
  • EN 60893-2: Specifies the methods of test for determining physical, mechanical, and electrical properties.
  • EN 60893-4: Provides typical values for various rigid laminated sheet types, aiding in material selection and technical comparison.
  • IEC 60893-3-1: Addresses requirements for other types of industrial rigid laminated sheets for electrical purposes.

1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
interested IEC National Committees.
3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National
Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the technical content of IEC
Publications is accurate, IEC cannot be held responsible for the way in which they are used or for any
misinterpretation by any end user.
4) In order to promote international uniformity, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC Publications
transparently to the maximum extent possible in their national and regional publications. Any divergence
between any IEC Publication and the corresponding national or regional publication shall be clearly indicated in
the latter.
