Overview
SIST EN IEC 60335-2-40:2023/A11:2023 is a Slovenian standard that aligns with the European amendment to EN IEC 60335-2-40:2023. It defines particular requirements for the safety of electrical heat pumps, air-conditioners, and dehumidifiers used in household and similar environments. Developed by the Slovenski inštitut za standardizacijo (SIST), this amendment addresses updated safety needs and operational contexts for these increasingly prevalent appliance categories, ensuring their compliance with evolving European and international directives.
This standard applies to equipment intended for both domestic and certain commercial uses, including shops, offices, hotels, and similar environments. By specifying requirements for installation, marking, operating safety, and protection against electrical and mechanical hazards, it aims to reduce risks for users and align products with EU regulatory obligations, like the Pressure Equipment Directive and Low Voltage Directive.
