IEC 61400-4:2025 is applicable to enclosed speed increasing gearboxes for horizontal axis wind turbine drivetrains with a power rating in excess of 500 kW. This document applies to newly designed gearboxes for wind turbines installed onshore or offshore. The technical requirements given in this document are not intended for repaired or refurbished gearboxes, or for the extension of the service life beyond the design life. This document provides requirements and guidance on the analysis of the wind turbine loads in relation to the design of the gear and gearbox elements. The gearing elements covered by this document include such gears as spur, helical or double helical and their combinations in parallel and epicyclic arrangements in the main power path. This document does not apply to power take off (PTO) gears. This document includes requirements, design recommendations, and rating of gearboxes with rolling bearings, plain bearings, or combinations of both bearing types. This document is supported by two Technical Reports: IEC TR 61400‑4‑2 provides additional information on lubrication of wind turbine drivetrains and IEC TR 61400‑4‑3 contains explanatory notes and supportive information to the requirements specified in this document. It is published as a double logo standard. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2012. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - extension of the scope to wind turbines above 2 MW reference power; - considerations for converging differing approaches to reliability in gear, bearing and wind turbine standards; - new clause on wind turbine loads specific to drivetrains; - revised clause on verification and validation; - new clause on design requirements for plain bearings; - revised and expanded design considerations for rolling bearings; - revised clause on considerations and requirements in the design and analysis of gearbox structural elements; - updated considerations and requirements on lubricants and lubrication systems; - removal of requirements for documenting the compliance of a design with the requirements of the document in favour of reference to IECRE OD‑501‑2.

IEC 61400-15-1:2025 defines a framework for assessment and reporting of the wind turbine suitability conditions for both onshore and offshore wind power plants. This includes: a) definition, measurement, and prediction of the long-term meteorological and wind flow characteristics at the site; b) integration of the long-term meteorological and wind flow characteristics with wind turbine and balance-of-plant characteristics; c) characterizing environmental extremes and other relevant plant design drivers; d) addressing documentation and reporting requirements to help ensure the traceability of the assessment processes. This document is framed to complement and support the scope of related IEC 61400 series by defining environmental input conditions. It is not intended to supersede the design and suitability requirements presented in those documents. Specific analytical and modelling procedures as described in IEC 61400-1, IEC 61400-2, IEC 61400-3-1 and IEC TS 61400-3-2 are excluded from the scope of this document.

IEC 61400-3-2:2025 specifies requirements for assessment of the external conditions at a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) site and specifies essential design requirements to ensure the engineering integrity of FOWTs. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate level of protection against damage from all anticipated hazards during the planned lifetime. This document focuses on the engineering integrity of the structural components of a FOWT but is also concerned with subsystems such as control and protection mechanisms, internal electrical systems and mechanical systems. This first edition cancels and replaces IEC TS 61400-3-2, published in 2019. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to IEC TS 61400‑3-2: a) The relevant contents of IEC 61400-3-1 have been migrated into IEC 61400-3-2, making IEC 61400-3-2 a self-standing document that does not have to be read directly in conjunction with IEC 61400-3-1. b) Several modifications have been made regarding metocean conditions in Clause 6 considering the nature of FOWT and the offshore site where FOWT will be installed, including: (1) the importance of wave directional spreading has been highlighted as it may result in larger loads for FOWT, including the addition of the new informative Annex O and Annex P and (2) the characteristic of swell has been explained, which may be relevant for some FOWT projects, including the addition of new informative Annex R regarding the characteristic of swell. c) Subclauses 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5 have been changed to include a revised DLC table and its related descriptions, including amongst others updated requirements on directionality, wave conditions, redundancy check and damage stability cases, and a robustness check case; further updates are made related to guidance and necessities provided on load calculations and simulation requirements. d) Subclause 7.6 has been updated with guidance on fatigue assessment along with clarifications on serviceability analysis and the applicable material for WSD; related Annex L has been updated and a new Annex M has been added for clarification of the safety factors and load and load effect approach for floating substructures e) The concept of floater control system that will interact with the wind turbine controller has been introduced in Clause 8. f) Clause 11 has been renamed from "Foundation and substructure design" to "Anchor design" and requirements for the transient conditions have been added. g) A more detailed clause regarding concrete design has been added to Clause 16 together with an informative Annex Q. h) Clause 15 has been updated with the aim to improve ease of use, using experience from oil and gas and considering unique wind turbine characteristics; updates included guidance for TLPs, damage stability, dynamic stability, testing and the addition for Annex S regarding how to analyse collision probability.

IEC 61400-21-2 - Wind energy generation systems - Measurement and assessment of electrical characteristics - Wind power plants - has the following scope: IEC 61400-21-2 defines and specifies the quantities that shall be determined to characterize the electrical characteristics of grid-connected power plants (PP). IEC 61400-21-2 defines the measurement and test procedures for quantifying the electrical characteristics as basis for the verification of compliance of PP, including: - Power quality aspects - Steady state operation - Dynamic response (undervoltage and overvoltage fault ride-through) - Disconnection from grid (Grid protection) - Control performance IEC 61400-21-2 defines a uniform functionality test and measurement procedure for the power plant controller (PPC), as a basis for the unit test of the power plant controller. IEC 61400-21-2 defines the procedures for assessing compliance with electrical connection requirements, including the aggregation methods for power quality aspects such as voltage variations, flicker, harmonics and interharmonics. IEC 61400-21-2 defines the procedures for measurement and fault recording for the verification of power plant electrical simulation models in relation to undervoltage and overvoltage ride through events. These measurement procedures are valid for power plants, including the power plant controller and other connected equipment, necessary for the operation of the Power Plant. The measurement procedures are valid for any size of power plant connected to the point of connection (POC) at one connection point. The procedures for assessing and verifying the compliance with grid connection requirements are valid for power plants in power systems with fixed frequency and a sufficient short-circuit power. Out of the scope of this standard are: - Multi park control, i.e. cluster management of several power plants (PP) or several connection points - Compliance test and performance requirements, including pass or fail criteria - Specific component test and validation of the PP equipment (switchgear, cables, transformers, etc.), which are covered by other IEC standards - Wind power plant model validation, as defined in the IEC 61400-27-2 - Load flow calculation methods and load flow study guidelines - Test and measurement of the communication interface and system of the PP as defined in the IEC 61400-25 series NOTE For the purposes of this document, the following terms for system voltage apply, based on IEC 60038 Low voltage (LV) refers to 100 V 230 kV

IEC 61400-50-1:2022 specifies methods and requirements for the application of instruments to measure wind speed (and related parameters, e.g. wind direction, turbulence intensity). Such measurements are required as an input to some of the evaluation and testing procedures for wind energy and wind turbine technology (e.g. resource evaluation and turbine performance testing) described by other standards in the IEC 61400 series. This document is applicable specifically to the use of wind measurement instruments mounted on meteorological masts, turbine nacelles or turbine spinners which measure the wind at the location at which the instruments are mounted. This document excludes remote sensing devices which measure the wind at some location distant from the location at which the instrument is mounted (e.g. vertical profile or forward facing lidars).
