Overview
EN 6093:2023 - Aerospace series: Receptacle, floating, single lug - is a CEN standard that specifies the dimensions, tolerances, required characteristics and mass of a floating single-lug receptacle intended for fuselage interior equipment and certain structural applications. It is designed to be used together with studs manufactured to EN 6088 or EN 6105. The standard sets mechanical limits, material and surface treatment options, marking and installation references for aerospace use.
Key topics and requirements
- Scope & use: Receptacle for fuselage interior and structural applications; used in conjunction with studs per EN 6088 / EN 6105.
- Dimensions & tolerances: All dimensions shown in the standard are in millimetres, apply after surface treatment, and unspecified tolerances follow ISO 2768-1. Burrs must be removed and sharp edges broken.
- Materials & finishes: Acceptable materials include corrosion-resistant steels (e.g. 1.4303, 1.4404), titanium alloy (3.7035) for caps, and spring steels (1.4310). Surface treatments include passivation (SAE AMS 2700 / EN 2516), anodizing for titanium (EN 2808 / ISO 8080), IVD coatings (MIL-DTL-83488) and dry film lubricants per MIL-PRF-46010 or EN 2491.
- Mechanical characteristics:
- Maximum axial tensile load: 6 000 N
- Maximum installation torque: 3.2 Nm
- Minimum floatability: 0.64 mm radial from centre
- Operating temperature range: −55 °C to +150 °C
- Mass & designation: Reference masses are provided (e.g. 6.7 kg per 1 000 pieces for dash 01/01V; 5.2 kg for dash 02S). A designation code (I9005) can be included if needed.
- Marking & documentation: Marking per EN 2424 (style F). Technical specification and qualification follow EN 6095 and EN 9133 where applicable.
- Quality management: Manufacturer operations should comply with an aerospace-approved QMS such as EN 9100.
Applications and users
- Where used: Attachment points for fuselage interior equipment, trim panels, and certain non-primary structural connections requiring controlled float to accommodate misalignment.
- Who uses it: Aerospace OEMs, fastener and hardware manufacturers, design engineers, quality/acceptance teams, and procurement specialists specifying receptacles for aircraft interiors and related structural interfaces.
- Why it matters: Ensures interchangeability, traceability, corrosion protection and verified mechanical performance in aerospace environments.
